In January 2000, the Shawnee Regional Center opened it's doors. With 6 students and a lot of enthusiasm the trek began. Now, more than 10 years later, we are still growing and evolving to better provide our students a challenging and rewarding educational environment.
We have a project every semester that connects calculus and physics in a real world application. In the fall the students design, build, and test floating storage devices. Then they must "sell" their product in a presentation to a board of directors.
Although being an OSSM student takes a lot of work and commitment, our alumni feel it is well worth the effort. They enter college with the preparation they need in order to succeed.
